Speech and Language Therapy

Who we are:

  • The speech language pathology team consists of speech language pathologists and speech language pathology assistants. 

What we do:

  • Your speech language pathologist may provide screening, assessment, intervention and/or consultation for a range of communication needs including articulation, language, voice, stuttering, and non-speaking forms of communication. 

When to consider referral:

  • You can discuss a referral to the school speech and language team if you have concerns about a learner’s:
    • Ability to be understood by others
    • Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in the classroom
    • Fluency/stuttering. 
    • Voice quality (hoarse voice)
    • Social communication (using language with friends, in different contexts).

How to Refer:

  • Please check in with your teacher or case manager to discuss a referral.

What to expect:

  • Service delivery may vary depending on your child’s needs and school resources.
  • Speech and language services may include consult/collaboration with the school team, direct individual or small-group therapy as needed.
