Speech and Language Therapy
Who we are:
- The speech language pathology team consists of speech language pathologists and speech language pathology assistants.
What we do:
- Your speech language pathologist may provide screening, assessment, intervention and/or consultation for a range of communication needs including articulation, language, voice, stuttering, and non-speaking forms of communication.
When to consider referral:
- You can discuss a referral to the school speech and language team if you have concerns about a learner’s:
- Ability to be understood by others
- Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in the classroom
- Fluency/stuttering.
- Voice quality (hoarse voice)
- Social communication (using language with friends, in different contexts).
How to Refer:
- Please check in with your teacher or case manager to discuss a referral.
What to expect:
- Service delivery may vary depending on your child’s needs and school resources.
- Speech and language services may include consult/collaboration with the school team, direct individual or small-group therapy as needed.
